This is one of a series of interviews initially completed (circa 1995) by the Milton Historical Society (http://miltonhistoricalsociety.ca) as part of the production of the book "Milton Remembers WWII 1939-1945". The date commemorated the 50th anniversary of the end of WWII. Ten years later (circa 2005) a series of new interviews were completed to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII. Several veterans of Milton and the surrounding community were interviewed by MHS staff to document their experiences in Milton, their service to Canada (or other allied force) and the impact that this had on their life. This is the interview of Ralph Hayward who served in the 46 Royal Marine Commandos of the British Armed Forces. In the interview you will also hear the voice of Kathleen Blane, Ralph's long time partner and a long term resident of Milton, each of which were active members of Branch 136 Royal Canadian Legion (Milton). The interview was conducted by Anne Taylor on June 14, 2005.
